Prohibition notices

Our inspectors normally enforce health and safety standards by giving advice on how to comply with the law. Sometimes they must order people to make improvements by issuing them with a notice, for example a prohibition notice, which prohibits an activity until remedial action has been taken.

Improving train performance in the North West and Central Region

The most important thing to passengers after safety is the punctuality and reliability of trains. In 2018, performance in Network Rail’s North West and Central region (NW&C) deteriorated and failed to substantially recover during 2019.
