National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is a weeklong celebration showcasing the benefits of apprenticeships. It’s an opportunity to highlight the skills offers, progression opportunities, and industry experience available for apprentices, and the positive impacts they can bring to organisations large and small.
Joining ORR as a GCS apprentice
I recently joined ORR as a Communications Apprentice on the Government Communications Service’s (GCS) apprenticeship programme. With the structures in place to allow for learning while you earn, it seemed an ideal way to grow my skillset and develop professionally whilst on the job.
The experience and industry qualification that I will have gained by the end of the 18 month apprenticeship should provide a strong platform on which to build my career.
Since joining in December, I have found a supportive, dynamic workplace with plenty of opportunities to learn, acquire new skills, and contribute towards achieving the goals of the communications team and organisation.
Skills for Life
For NAW 2023 the theme is ‘Skills for Life’, with a focus on how apprenticeships can help individuals to harness the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and how employers can engage them to develop a highly-skilled, future-ready workforce.
Apprenticeships at ORR
At ORR we currently have 16 apprentices, across nearly all our offices. To find out more about apprenticeships see our careers page.
