The Office of Rail and Road’s annual assessment of Network Rail’s Wales and Western region has found that passenger train service performance declined considerably and raises concerns about the performance of the Wales route during the year (April 2021 to March 2022).

As we prepare for the next RIS we are paying more attention to the quality of National Highways’ plans for the next road period.

There are around 4,500 route miles of strategic road network in England – the motorways and major A roads and of those 4,500 miles, around 370 miles are classed as “smart motorways”.

National Highways must provide high quality, detailed plans for how it will operate, maintain, and improve the Strategic Road Network between 2025 and 2030, says its independent monitor the Office of Rail and Road (ORR).
