Pandemic sees London’s Stratford station become top of the stops

London’s Stratford railway station recorded the most passenger entries and exits during a year that saw Britain’s passenger usage drop 78% compared with the previous year. This was the lowest level of journeys seen since at least before 1872 and is a result of the pandemic.

As Britain’s railway infrastructure undergoes one of the most significant modernisation programmes in its history as it increasingly adopts digital technology, the market is expected to expand significantly. For change on this scale to be delivered affordably, Network Rail as the main buyer of signalling systems
